Yes. The blade is factory-ground at a 25° angle, but like chisels or planes, it benefits from honing and stropping before first use. You might also choose to add a 30° micro-bevel, for easier sharpening, as some woodworkers do. Once sharpened, quick periodic stropping will keep it razor sharp.
