Does it work with jobsite chisels?

Yes—our sharpening jig works with jobsite chisels. Just note that heavily used chisels may have more wear or damage, so they can take longer to sharpen fully. As long as the cutting edge is intact, you’ll be able to restore it effectively. Blades whi

Does it work with plane irons?

Absolutely. The jig handles plane blades up to 2" in width, just as well as chisels. We are working on a design change which will allow sharpening plane blades up to 2 3/8" wide.

Does it work with short carving chisels, spokeshave blades, and mini plane irons?

At this time, very short blades are not supported. We’re working on an adapter plate that will allow blades as short as 1-1/2” in the near future.

Does it work with slicks and timber-framing chisels?

The jig can handle blades up to 2” wide. For longer blades like slicks or timber chisels,  the main consideration is stability. If the handle causes tipping, you can anchor the jig to your workbench to help keep it level. Be sure to maintain proper a

Does it work with gouges, lathe tools, gravers, Japanese-style chisels?

These tools often have unique shapes, sizes, or cutting angles. The jig isn’t designed to accommodate them, and we recommend alternative sharpening methods for them. For gouges and spokeshaves, we are exploring future solutions—stay tuned!

What’s the maximum blade width the jig can accommodate?

At this time, the jig supports chisels and plane blades up to 2 inches wide.
