Does it work with jobsite chisels?
Yes — SharpMate works with jobsite chisels. Just note that heavily used chisels may have more wear or damage, so they can take longer to sharpen fully. If a chisel's edge is heavily chipped or damaged, it may need grinding first before honing on Shar
Does it work with plane irons?
Yes. SharpMate Plus can handle plane blades up to 2 3/8" wide right out of the box. If you have the original SharpMate with black sides: your system handles plane blades up to 1⅞" wide with the included stone (up to 2⅛" if you're using your own wider
Does it work with short carving chisels, spokeshave blades, and mini plane irons?

Does it work with gouges, lathe tools, or gravers?
These tools often have unique shapes, sizes, or cutting angles. The SharpMate isn’t designed to accommodate them, and we recommend alternative sharpening methods for them.
What’s the maximum blade width the SharpMate can accommodate?
SharpMate Plus supports chisels and plane blades up to 2 3/8" wide, out of the box. If you have the original SharpMate: max width is 1⅞" with the included stone (up to 2⅛" with your own wider stone), or 2⅜" with the Upgrade Kit.
What’s the minimum chisel length that works with the SharpMate?
Standard clamp: chisels 3½" and longer. For anything shorter, the Short Chisel Adapter Kit is designed for chisels with a usable blade length under 3½" (works directly on SharpMate Plus; requires the Upgrade Kit on the original SharpMate).
